Er was gisteren een hoop onduidelijkheid of de Iraanse delegatie er al was, of überhaupt nog zou gaan. Maar: ze zijn er, en Trumps triade Vance, Kushner en Witkoff ook. Opmerkelijk overigens dat Amerika het aandurft 's lands #2 plus de belangrijkste onderhandelaars naar uitgerekend Pakistan te sturen, want dat land is nou niet bepaald een baken van veiligheid en pro-Amerikaans sentiment, en dat weet Trump ook, die vorige week nog zijn twijfels uitte: "There’s a question of safety, security." Peterson (DDG 121) and USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) transited the Strait of Hormuz and operated in the Arabian Gulf as part of a broader mission to ensure the strait is fully clear of sea mines previously laid by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps."
Update 19:03 - Volgens Al Jazeera zouden de onderhandelingen voorspoedig zijn verlopen: "Sources close to the mediation have told Al Jazeera that the first phase of in-person talks has ended in Pakistan. The sources said the two delegations are exchanging written texts – essentially aimed at confirming that they’re on the same page on agreements reached today."
